Hey all,
I'm going to get a new guitar after chinese new year.
I was wondering if the Squier Cali Strat would be a good guitar to start of with?
Yeah and if I'm getting that, should I change the pickups? I think I have roughly 400 dollars to start up with.
I've been playing acoustic for quite a while already so I think I want to move on to Electric now cause I play mainly Blues, Alternative and Indie.

Thanks

Well, you can go and have a try at the guitar first. And dont change pickups unless you have a very very good amp. and do you have an amplifier now?

If i can recall, there's a peavey amp in the buy/sell section that's around 100. By the way, are you deadset about getting the squier or have you looked around for other choices, say the rally guitars at standard value?

Hey...like someone has mentioned, the Rally guitars are good actually. Yeah, but not that cheap either. No offence to Squire guitar lovers ah....I've never liked Squire guitars as I think the sound is nothing compared to the real Fender. That's why, when I bought a Squire guitar many years back. I use it for less than a month and I gave it away as it doesn't fit my playing needs. But again, it's subjective as it all depends on your preference.

I like playing a guitar that I can have option with.

Another guitar that's quite good is Smash guitar:

Happy deciding!!

i think the timbre would be a very good alternative to the squier strats. mostly good reviews from people who have tried and who own the guitar. very tempted to get one as well. haha.
