Getting a drumkit

if u're staying in the USA, u are lucky. coz u'd be able to buy a tama starclassic for S$3100 whereas it retails for S$4700 here at swee lee. anyway, save up for good cymbals. u wont regret it. ;)

I think that you may be interested in the Pearl Exports that Alvinthedrummer is offering. Do PM him and see if you can afford it.

all for just S$620~ wee~~ but i am not sure about the cymbals... not sure how true it is... and how many stands i will get.. (it said a pair of 14" and one 16", so 2 + 1 = 3, wonder if i will really get 3 stands haha). any advice on this?

hihats always come in a pair. a top and bottom. that's what they mean by pair.

btw, i think it's more worthwhile to get the export, or even the forum, from alvin.

better quality, and trust me, it's a way way better deal. export you wont get a throne and stock cymbals though. anyway i didnt really like the peace legion and i'm not even sure about peavey drums on a whole.

then again, you've to consider your budget. changing skins all around, cymbals, extra stands/attachments+boom arms, etc. and ultimately, it's your choice. all we can do is to express our opinions.

Lets put things in perspective.

If you spend the cash on a Peace Legion, you are likely to spend even more on upgrading your set later on. Spend the $$ once and for all on a good set, such as the Pearl Export that Alvin is offering, and be happy for a very long time. Too bad I dun have the cash to spend on one set right now... :(

me looking at a number of sets now... will think about it real seriously, cuz i just discovered that the only place i can keep my kit would be in my storeroom, meaning that if i wanna play, i have to take it out, assemble it in place then play, and keep it back when finished. assembling it alone is gonna like take 30 mins including soundcheck and basic tuning lol...

I think that by the time you set up your drum set, you would be too tired to play the drums!! Is there not a better alternative to store your drumset?

If space is really a limitation (and i mean really), look at smaller sets like the Rythem Traveller or the PDP Chameleon (did i spell it correct?).

Actually if you use the memory locks and mark your cymbal stand height properly with markers etc...set up would only take 10-15mins...overseas I used to have to tear down my kit and pack it up for gigs...set up and tear down again after gigs...then setup again at home for practice. Use the memory locks...it helps big time...

scarly i put in my storeroom the paintwork kena scratched i cry T~T, but setting up... well... i'd be more worried about the drums itself, the cymbals with the markers as suggested by alvin should make it faster.

I would say u should scout around for good second hand deals. Not just on soft but everywhere literally. I managed to strike a deal with, believe it or not, a guitar shop to sell me n excellent conditioned 2nd hand tama superstar kit (practically brand new, ONLY very little stick marks on e skins) PLUS 4 brand new cymbals of my own personal choice for 1.2k! Got A custom hats, crash, fast crash and a paragon ride. So actually with 2k and alot of looking around and sensible negotiation and of course contacts, u can strike these good deals. =D

Would you be kind enough to PM where this shop is? Congrats on your deal! Superstar is a value for money, much more you got it cheaper.. Very good!

Quite funny right? Made in Asia, Exported to a very far country, more than twice the distance from Singapore. But available in Asia for a very high price.
