Gator cases.. same experience anyone?

Hi guys.. just wanna check with the rest of you Gator case owners out there.. mid-August i bought this gator lightweight case... the one that is hard but has a canvas covering over..

last month alot of stuff started falling apart.. firstly.. one of the strap broke... that wasn't so much of a concern coz i can always get a new strap from some other bag...

so i carried it only on one strap... but quite paranoid of that strap breaking then dropping the guitar while walking.. quite paiseh.. so started using more of the handle at the side... after a few times of usage.. the screw that's just below the handle that screws the canvas to the hard shell got ripped out of the hard shell.. making the handle very flimsy and insecure...

so i started using the one strap again... after awhile i noticed that the plastic piece that was holding the strap to the bag was giving way... and actually the middle piece had broken alraedy...

but the thing that really made me go down to yamaha at PS to see what could be done was that there was one day it was raining and i had to travel this short distance from my church to across the road... then in th evening i opened my guitar case... inside was actually wet and damp.. (MY GUITAR!!!) the bag has actually been claimed to be "waterproof"... some water proofing huh... not like i threw it into the sea...

ok enough of my ranting on gator cases.. now to explain what actually happened at Yamaha(PS) the OFFICIAL distributor of Gator cases. Gator cases has a 5 yr warantee.. i went to yamaha to see what could be done and firstly... i got pushed around to many sales ppl... had to repeat myself over and over... finally this guy said they only warantee their stuff for 1 WEEK... only for electronics do they warantee it for a longer period..

not only that... while i was telling him about the waterproofing thing.. he actually said and i quote "who ask u.. u shouldn't have gone into the rain like that... cannot believe the bag say wat.. the rain too heavy already.. even hard case also got gap one" ... fantastic answer... hahaha... 10 points.. demerit ones..

anyway he was "nice" enough to attempt to help me screw back the screw that came out and that was it... nothing could be done... i mean.. as the official distributor i ask them to feedback to gator and he said "no point".. then whats the point?

no warantee... meaning the gator warantee cards in the bags are useless.. why put there 5 yr warantee?

anyone experience the same defects as me? or am i just 1 in a billion?

cheers..

ps. if you work for yamaha PS no offence man... but if u want to say something pls do... =)

why don't you feedback directly to gator yourself then? tell them that the local distributor refuses to honour the 5 year warranty.

was at Yamaha PS a few weeks ago checking out their electric guitars.. thinking of getting one. I approached the sales staff who were just hanging around the cashier counter. "Excuse me, when does your Year End sale start?"

The guy with the pony-tail gave me this 'duh' look and said "Year end lor".

Yeah right. So much for good service. Well done Yamaha.

Remember, its the guy with the pony-tail.

cheers.

At least they give one week for bags... Swee Lee does not have warranty! My rockbag starts to fray after less than 3mths of use!! and it's not that i carry it out tha often........ -_-

lol.. sorry man.. jsut checking to see if any gator cases suffer the same fate as mine... =)

no bashing to yamaha intended...

imagine you own a shop and some customer walk in and ask, "when will you sell your stuff cheaper?"

I bet you will give that customer a "duh" look and say "when I'm feeling like selling it lower lor"

Thats not the point. They have a traditional year end sale which everyone is aware of and that was what i am asking about. If like you say they are so reluctant to lower their prices then they shouldn't have an annual year-end sale right?

The point is i asked the sales staff a question but the sales staff was not helpful at all. On top of that, they gave me a 'stupid' answer. They should have said 'donno' which to me was an honest answer rather than the one they gave me which smacks of insincerity and sarcasm.

I'm just highlighting in a public forum yamaha's sales staff can improve abit on their basic courtesy thats all.

cheers.

btw i'm an employer myself so i think i should know what i'm talking about. Anyway, back to Gator cases. Forget about my rants. cheers.
