GAS-ing for a Stratocaster

Ok I've been GAS-ing for a Stratocaster.. But I'm not familiar with the dealings of this guitar. I need some help if you guys would please.;)

1) Where's the best place to get a Fender Strat?

2) How much would I need to prepare?

3) And who do you know scallops fretboards?:twisted:

IIRC Mexican strats run for about 900-1100 bucks. American ones are more expensive, around 1.4-1.6k. Not so sure about Japs, though it's probably somewhere between the Mex and US pricing.

If you want a ready-made Fender Strat with scalloped fretboard that you can get off the shelf, get a YJM signature strat. Available at Swee Lee.

Just a suggestion though. :)

MIJs can be found for 800 to 1k on soft forums, lots of shops along music row sells them too such as Davies or TYmusic. They cost around 1.1 to 1.8. A Ritchie Kotzen can come in at 2.3k.

Swee Lee Warehouse has TONNES of Fenders. Actually Jurong Scrapyard also. K nvm.

Actually many places have them Rankin, Blackwood's got choice pieces. It's what you want, where you think you will get great service and your budget~

Hey fellas, thanks alot for your help, they're priceless!

I shall go check em out! If anything else I should know about strats by all means, post here. Thanks :)

Yup, its all up to the individual preference. Who knows, the Strat u might eventually end up will be a non-Fender? That's what happened to me, been thru Squiers, Fenders and finally ended up with a custom Strat with no brand at the headstock. Body is pure alder while neck is Allparts n customised it to look like a superstrat, while still retaining the Strat sound and look :)

The price u spend will be cheap if u know how to look for the best places for value-for money-parts. And if u don't mind not having the F word on the headstock lol.

Good luck on finding the right Strat!

Thanks peeps :mrgreen::mrgreen: when school loosens its grip on my neck I'll go try a heck load of 'em!
