fuzz type pedal

i set a low gain distortion before my fuzz to make the sound more thicker. it gives palm muted notes more edge imo (rather than with the fuzz alone)

mix as in overdrive->fuzz or fuzz->overdrive?

if u consider the screwdriver a fuzz, sometimes i play it into a classic distortion (ok ok mebbe its not an ovvverdrive but close), and use the screwdriver as a lead boost

some fuzzes shdnt be tampered with though IMO, like the mayo, i cant seem to find a good stack with that one, but by itself its full of gain and so rich and creamy that u dun really have to add anything to it already

what fuzz do u use? and what are u looking for/ hoping to achieve in "mixing" a drive and fuzz?

Different results can be achieved by putting the OD before the fuzz or after the fuzz. Do note that if you put a buffered OD before a germanium fuzz, you will lose the ability to clean up via the guitar volume knob. A TS9 type of OD before a fuzz would get better results rather than after the fuzz, but do note the aforementioned caveat.

^not just a buffered OD.. in fact any buffered pedal before a Ge fuzz. this doesnt happen in Si fuzzes because they DONT clean up at all..

you you like more fuzz in your fuzz, do give the Double Muff a try 8) love mine!

An Si fuzz with the right silicon trannys will clean up well.

A buffer before a fuzz unit tends to make it sound brittle, harsh, thin, overly bright, etc etc you get the idea.

Some people like an od before a fuzz, turns it into more distortion like - think cascading gain stages. Others do the fuzz into od, for a singing sustaining tone that is usually very smooth. Either one is up to you. I do the fuzz --> od way.

Check out the Subdecay Flying Tomato 2.0 for versatility, if you are not in the vintage camp.

DS-1 isn't a fuzz drive type, it's a mild distortion, wroks better with an amp's dirty channel. i kept mind unmodded.
