Headphone type:
'Around the ear' circumaural; open; 35 ohms; 53mm drivers.

FAQ 1 - do I need a headphone amp?
Easy to drive - 'passable' on an i-Pod, but, of course, sounds best ('fuller') with an amp.

FAQ 2 - is the ad900 different from the ad900x - and what features are different?
Yes. From what I know, the ad900 has a few distinct features (not found in the 'x') - velvet pads, the 'old' design aluminium frame, the 'old' design drivers and Art Titan cable, for single ended headphone design.
Now a 'discontinued' model.

FAQ 3 - description of the ad900 sound?
Wide open sound stage, 'neutrality', details and 'fast'-and-not-exaggerated bass.

FAQ 4 - is it true the Audio technica Air series is for 'big heads'?
According to me - and the reviews, it seems so, but as always, auditioning is the 1 way to find out.
Having said that - the Air series is very, very comfortable, 'floats' almost weightless, if it suits your head 'type', that is.
