Free opinion page. An epi LP custom or gibson LP junior.

i've done my own research and stuff
but i would like to hear people's viewpoints and opinions on these two guitars.

the epiphone* les paul custom ( alpine white ) *i can't afford a gibson...hence the catch whether gibson lp junior or custom epi
and
the gibson billie joe armstrong les paul junior

i would just like to hear any viewpoints on these two guitars.
and like which would be worth the buck?
better sounding?
better playbility.
which has more flexiblity.
better tone?
raw sounds etc...
etc

i GREATLY appreciate it.
oh and where to actually find the billie joe armstrong lp junior in sg.....
other than ebay and online means...because importing and shipping insurance costs are kinda steep.


p.s
is it yamaha guitars or just me, that their necks are way thicker than most other brand's necks????

and how thick is the custom's neck.....i know juniors are 60's slim tapered

Regular Gibson LP Junior would be alright.

Given the difference in pricing between that and the BJA Signature, you can get yourself a nice P90 replacement - and a noise-cancelling one if you wish, unlike the BJA.


Obviously the LP Jr will have less tonal variety in terms of pickup selection and what not. However the P90 is a beast of a pickup and its more sensitive to tone/vol changes. You can coax a good variety of tones out of that 1 pickup. Plus, its raw. Like, DAMN RAW. Youtube for some clips. Amazing tone - just bites, snarls and screams rock.

if price is not a matter go for the BJA, its actually a really good variant of the original les paul junior. plus you get a kickass ebony board with the white model

unless you are really set for a single pickup guitar, having a bridge + neck combo would be better in terms of variety. if you rely on good clean tones for some chord work, having a neck pickup really helps.

hey its good to hear from you again matt.

yeah i know the bja's kinda ex.

though its kinda confusing to note,
that in the specs of the guitar, the bja les paul junior is not noise cancelling,
but when interviewed, billie joe said that the pickups were actually hum cancelling....

but all in all i'm actually considering getting one.
how much is the bja actually.

i'm estimating around 3k plus.
with shipment insurances and all ...
please don't tell me its more than that....

yeah i did consider the neck pickups problem too.
as in, if i were to get a junior i would sacrifice alot of variety etc.
as compared to a guitar with neck and bridge pickups.

however i already do have a guitar which has neck and bridge pickups.
and i'm now aiming for a guitar which can give me a real raw punchy heavy sound.
something real aggressive.

hence i was considering the bja.

hmm but i was recommended the p90's pickups with hum cancelling....
just to ask.
wad's the diff from the one that comes with bja guitar and the p90 pickups?

I don't get it... for the price difference between a BJA and regular LP Jr - how different are the specs?

As mentioned, the BJA's pickup is not hum-cancelling - I've tried one before - and there's the difference neck shapes, still hardly an issue.

Unless you really must have BJA's signature behind the headstock plus that leopard print guitar case - I really see no reason to get the BJA.

A regular LP Jr with mods will easily out-tone (wow, new word) the BJA.

they still have in in production?
i thought that they were not in production since like the 60's .....?

and the 50's necks are not as slim as the 60's necks....
