Food Poisoning @ Rojak Geylang Serai

Everyday? Wouldn't you feel jelak? I once ate KFC 4 days in a row, and I later got sian of chicken for 1 whole week.

for me, KFC nope. but i think i'll be sick if i eat Long John Silvers everday.

It's like working in McDonald's asking the manager for a Big Mac, large fries and Coke everytime it's your lunchtime.

hehe, i used to work in a fast food chain for half a year, and i get to eat what ever i want on the menu. the art of carrying your boss balls. it works! :D

There is no limit to the extent of human stupidity.

That's true bro... but think about it this way.

Yes, it's a small successful business that this rojak seller has.

But do you really think his competitor, or whoever his enemies are, would risk possible capital punishment if found guilty for murder, just to put this rojak seller out of business?

Maybe people will commit murder out of passion or lust or plain psychopathic behaviour (think Liu Hong Mei, Huang Na etc) but I don't think Singaporeans are known for business-related homicide, direct or otherwise.

Singapore is not some third world country where there exists complacent and corrupted forensics, police and law officers.

desperate ppl will do desperate things to get shit done..
there will be and has been business being sabotaged due to jealousy,money,etc..
it does not matter if it is a 3rd world,2nd world or 1st world country...there will be ppl who take extreme measures to destroy another man`s business cause of whatever..

times are bad remember...

but,i would not know what the real cause of this food poisioning case is.

The "poison" in the rojak must be extremely potent to have caused death.

I think all the hawkers are gonna suffer because of this incident.. Personally I have lost confidence in hawker food after hearing about this. I feel very sorry for the lady who passed on... Who knew an innocent plate of rojak could have done so much damage.

I worked at Subway years ago and that was the only food I felt safe eating everyday! Home cooked food is still the best, especially when it's cooked by your mom!

its actually quite shocking how some stalls recycle their gravies...

I heard, SECOND HAND, that one of the rojak stalls in simpang bedok recycles their curry... When they serve u prata, they will have a small plate of curry that comes with it and if that curry seems to be untouched, they will pour it back to the pot.

I really hope that whatever the final report says, it has to punish whoever's responsible. Its quite sad that someone who have a small business making REALLY NICE rojak *his rojak is purely fresh ingredients, no fancy colorings added* going out of business like this.

oh and if ur an east sider and a rojak lover, u should know about al-mahbOOb rojak stall. Pretty famous for its yummy, very very *put on food colorings* bloody red rojak.

Their business is very lucrative and if u ever buy there, they actually overcharge too. Blimey, no one actually did complain about their pricings but ever since this happened and the one at newton, prices seems to be quite "fairer" now and business have slowed.

I heard the person in coma had died. Aw. :(

What a day for food-lovers. Food poisoning is still an issue, despite our developed country status.

Luckily it wasnt a tourist who died. But still condolences to the deceased.

Now im very wary of outside food.Home made food is the best now.

the 2nd person who passed on is a relative of a friend of mine.

i am so not going to eat hawker food for a long time.

yea, imagine if the prawns at newton circus was contaminated... that will definitely be costly.

well we all can't be too sure whether prepared food is cooked properly unless we do it ourselves (thus, if you want things done right, do it yourself).

technically we're relying on the "trust" of hawkers, chefs and cooks we do not know to prepare our food (via the hygiene certs NEA issued). if food poisoning can happen at home, i think our chances of getting food poisoning in the hands of others is way much higher.

i don't think the hawker is shooting himself in the food by poisoning his customers (unless he really has nothing better to do) and the theory of competitive business sabotage is a lil far fetched. i believe it's one of the tragic events that happen when we're least expected it.

Wow...lucky i didnt eat much...i cant stand stomach flu..let alone this...be weary oh what you guys eat! The world isnt safe anymore!

Severe food poisoning is no joke. You puke and poop so many times until there is nothing left inside you...but you still feel like puking or pooping, you have high fever and your body ache like crazy, your stomach cramp up, you become so weak until you cannot walk, your face turn completely pale and you have cold sweat, you cannot sleep because of the pain and discomfort. In another words, you just lie on the bed in agony.
