what does it do to my sound?? heard of it but havent really tried it..

and what kind of sound will i get if i attach my ds-1 and delay with it??
 
The flanger's similar to chorus, but it's a more metallic-sounding effect. As said, sort of like a plane taking off - whirling and whooshing.
Flanger multiplies the notes and then plays copies of them slightly out of sync along with the original notes.
It is pretty evident in Van Halen's 'And the Cradle Will Rock'.

i think the whirling and swooshing is more like the sound of a phaser. But they are pretty close, so you aren't wrong either :D but i find the flanger really metallic, creates a kind of 'clanging' sound - like a phaser in a tin can? haha... just my personal opinion. it can be used to good effect, of course, all pun intended.
