STEPS TO FIX YOUR MSN!!!!

1)go to c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

2)open the file called "hosts" using wordpad

3)add these lines to the bottom

65.54.239.80 messenger.hotmail.com
65.54.239.80 dp.msnmessenger.akadns.net

I rather wait for it to come back working.

Modifying the system to me is very risky and can cause unstability in the system.

Just do a backup of your old host files even if there is any problem just rollback to the old hosts file....

oh so it's everyone's windows live malfunctioning...
phew. thought it was something wrong with my computer.
is this a problem that'll go away if we wait long enough? cos according to the status report MSN provides 'all systems are stable and running'.

The status thingy updated once in a while. So maybe the next time they update it would be tomorrow. Well guys, let's just wait. I believe you can survive without Windows Live Messenger working.

haha yeah. as long as this isn't something that needs me to fix anything. I'm kinda hopeless with computers.

guys check my post at the other thread.
there's a program which edits the host for u and u can un edit it whenever u want. very safe.

Well thanks Taiji , it really works. Actually my friend tried sending me the updated "Host" file but I was quite blur in trying to get this entire thing done.

Now I can download live messenger and sign in easily unlike last time....

hey are u guys all using Windows Live? coz i'm still using Msn messenger verison 7.5, & the messenger is down too haha. juz wanna us when u dl Windows Live does it upgrade Msn messenger or it is another Messenger programme on its own? thanks.

It's MSN messenger 8..just that they are not going to use the "MSN Messenger" name. just a lil change of service name..but same program

thx, but somehow when i logged in to msn messenger 7.5 recently, it doesn't ask me to update automatically, which it normally does. so muz go msn messenger website to dl windows live manually isit?
