First rock/blues song to learn for a beginner

What is the first rock/blues song you guys would recommend for a beginner? Something not too complicated. Maybe you guys can give me a list of songs that are great for beginners. And should I learn scales first?

Thanks

Some that came to mind are...

Come as you are - Nirvana
Sweet Child o' Mine - GNR
Otherside - RHCP
Slither - Velvet Revolver

And many other modern pop rock songs that uses a ton of power chords. Try looking up what a power chord is and after mastering it, you can create some pretty cool patterns. ^^

Why not learn some chords first? They're really great for getting your fingers to familiarize with the fretboard!

As for scales, if you are an absolute beginner i wouldn't reccomend learning them that early. After playing for a few months you might want to check out the Minor Pentatonic scale. Its mainly used in rock/blues and many great songs use it (e.g Stairway Solo). It's a great first scale to learn!

And one friendly reminder is to always start slow for any song/scale you are learning, then slowly work up the tempo.

Rock on!

i hope u meant rhythm cos sweet child and slither have leads that will kill interest in any beginner. i learnt songs like kryptonite and dont cry (gnr) when i 1st started out. hmmm btw learning scales is alright at the start. it depends on whether u wanna start the hard way or the easy way. u gotta learn them anyway unless u wanna just be a play and sing guitarist. my teacher taught me the pentatonic on my 1st lesson and once i got that down i learnt the 7 modes. nothing's wrong with my playing so far.
