First 7-and 11-string basses on CD

Our Cd, "Tap Dance On A Cloud" by Nielsen-Goodman Project, is now avaialable featuring the first 7-string bass (Tobias#975, the only one Tobias ever made) and still the only 11-string bass built by Adler with the low C# string(17Hz). The Cd features master guitarist David Nielsen on electrified Nylon string classical guitar Garry Goodman playing 7-string and 11-string basses and world class percussionists Ivan Krillzarin and Alex Acuna.This CD is serious,live ,real time playing.

Coincidently,these tracks were recorded at Devonshire sound in North Hollywood, California-the same room Alex Acuna,on drums, recorded "Birdland" with Jaco Pastorius and Weather Report.
The 7-string bass parts are 95% played using harmonics (Percussive Harmonics) . You can find out more and listen to bass solos at http://garrygoodman.com .
There is a CD Baby.com link there which takes you to CD Baby.com where there are audio clips of the first 2 minutes of each of the 10 tunes on the Cd. The low C# string is featured at the end of "Bubble Work",so it isn't on the sample.

I think James was referring to our Entire population as estimated at 4 million, not 4 million musicians.

The majority of active musicians here (bass players) use only up to 6 string standard basses. I personally use a 4 string...

the neck is less than 3/4" thick, and it is about as wide as most 9 strings.Guitarists who have played it love it.

Funny how things turn out....we thought we had an acoustic sounding smooth jazz cd, and it turned out to be a new age/ambient/world hit. Our CD "Tap Dance On a Cloud" debuted world wide at #6 last month ( http://www.newagereporter.com/charts/top100.asp )
and is #4 now,played on 172 stations. interesting that a cd with lots of solo bass intros and bass solos would be considered "New Age".If you want to hear an amazing guitarists,check out the CD.
