I just bought a used Eric Clapton model strat with lace sensor pickups but the 6th (thickest) string buzzes, I think the action is a little too low.
Could somebody give a step-by-step guide on how to adjust the action of this model ? your help will be appreciated and could save me $25.00 .( and I've already paid $1300.00 for that ax !)

i think if you have just gotten the guitar and you are not sure how to do things like this, bring it back to where you got it from and ask them to help you. this is an expensive guitar and i hope you will not have to 'learn from experience' on it.

Hi mitth and soft,
Thanks for the link, mitth, there indeed was a page on string ht. adjustment, unfortunately they dont show the bridge of the model I have. But the info was useful. Thanks again.

Yes, soft I agree, S$1300.00 is alotta dough. I wouldnt want to do any difficult job on this thing. The pickguard is warped, I'm not thinking of changing it myself. I got it from a gentleman who'd bought it from swee lee before 1996, I think he is as blur as i'm in adjusting the action. Actually, i brought it to swee lee just now and they r kind of short of hands today (3 were on day off) and they asked me to leave the guitar behind and collect it a week later. A week is too long, so I left with my guitar and came looking for help here. Hopefully, some EC strat owner would give a helping hand.

S$1300? How did you get the Eric Clapton strat for such a low price? Here in states they sell it for around US$1300++, which should be the best price everywhere in the world.

Tts a good deal rrly. Cuz with $1300, what we can get first hand is only a strat standard in swee lee. Am i right, folks?

really ? S$1300.00 is a good buy ? I didnt know that. Now I feel better. The gentleman who sold it to me first put it up on Yahoo auction , I managed to get in touch with him and turned that into a private sale. He's a very nice gentleman, gave me a lift home too after we completed the transaction at his place.

Yeap it's definitely a good buy. Check out www.musiciansfriend.com. It's one of the best online dealer here in USA. The new one is selling for US$1329. Well urs is $1300. wat ya think? Wahahaha. but hows the condition though..

hi ewirjadi and thor666,
ewirjadi: The 6th string buzzes and the pickguard is warped. But i understand the warping is a common problem with a single-ply pickguard which this model uses.
thor666: yes the serial number is SN6945520, I've emailed Fender to establish the date. Their dating webpage didnt help. How does a cert. of authenticity look like ? There r some manuals, some handwritten inspection signatures in the hard case.

not all Signature strats have CoA... depends on when/where/model u got...

anyway from the Fender dating page:

http://www.rexc.com/services/datingfender.htm

SE(XXXXXX)

SN(XXXXXX)

Signature Edition Strats

SE8(XXXXX)-'88, SE9(XXXXX)-'89

SN0(XXXXX)-'90, SN1(XXXXX)-'90, SN2(XXXXX)-'92, SN3(XXXXX)-'93

Yours would likely be a 96 model. Why u have 7 digits is something i can't figure thou.

Anyway i guess as long the headstock decal as it doesn't look like the link i posted... u're probably safe.

boy oh boy, that means i'm not safe !?, thor666. That was the piece i bought. There is a stickon that says "Fender Stratocaster with synchronized tremolo", and a printed on EC signature on the front of the headstock, and the serial number is printed on the back of the headstock. (sorry, i think we r off topic now).
