*fellow softies be warned of spoilt item sellers*

Hi all. Just want to inform you guys of a particular seller who just sold me a spoilt guitar pedal, and claims it works saying he tested it before hand. I asked for a refund but he refused. Though its not a expensive sale but i guess this is not right in selling spoilt products and claiming it to be working before hand. He is still selling a few stuff and i advice fellow softies to think twice before buying.

Always check before buying. If needed, go to his/her place to test it. Or else, bring whatever you need to test it. That way you can guarantee it's working completely fine. If you buy something without testing, there is always a possibility it might be spoilt. Same thing applies to guitars, amps, mics or anything electronic.

Don't put yourself in a position where you risk buying something faulty. Buying secondhand from someone you don't not know personally is never safe and you should not trust whatever he/she says. Always test and try to make sure even if it means more inconvenience for you. Otherwise, don't deal it.

@Namrehs: Thanks for the advice! I've learnt a lesson here.

@an2: Weird noises is being produced when the octave knobs is engaged. Theres some tone cut intermittently. Any way to get it fixed or?

Kinda strange how these guys pop up during the Christmas season, huh? Really spoils the festive cheer. :(

Electronic stuff like amps and pedals have to more careful as repairs can be very costly. Guitars usually just need a twist of a truss rod and some contact spray. For pedals, I suggest bringing a battery and a patch cable to at least test it. Amps no choice have to plug in and test.

Thanks for the advice.. Will take note in future. Any case, the pedal is a Boss OC-2. The problem with it is that it produces weird noises when the octave knobs are turned up to any position. Anyone with any idea whats wrong with it?

i use an overdrive only and its on constant "on" so it doesn't really get spoilt due to no stepping at all x)

you can try beez. what pedal is it? it'll cost more than the price you paid for the pedal, so buy a legit one from stores which is what i try to do 90% of the time.

Errr..what weird noises.
If you played anything while adjusting the octave knob.
I think the cool noises are meant to be.

I only played after adjusting the octave knobs. Weird noises sounded like frequent intermittent tone cuts.
