I'm not exactly keen on letting this go ASAP, but there're a few really tempting guitars up on the 'bay so I'm putting this up for a feeler sale. Price I'm seeking would be $2400 firm, which I think is fair for a discontinued model with this many upgrades and a flight case, and one of the better playing Gibsons you're going to find anywhere. I'd also be interested in trades for Suhrs /w maple fretboards, ESP Japans (Eclipse-1s or other uncommon models) /w ebony fretboards, high-end Fenders, and similar - plus cash on either end depending on guitar, of course.
This is a 2008 model Les Paul Standard Faded in honeyburst, with one of the nicer looking tops I've seen on these guitars. I'm the original owner, bought it from Canada. It's had quite a few upgrades done on it - I've replaced the pickups with a calibrated set of Bare Knuckle Nailbombs, the bridge and tailpiece are Tonepros locking, and the tuners are also locking Gotoh/Klusons. Plastic hardware has been replaced to color match to the lighter vintage cream BKP bobbins, and the jack plate has been changed to a nickel metal one to prevent the cracking around the screws that can occur with plastic ones. It's currently strung up with 11-48 Curt Mangans. The original Gibson case has been replaced with a sturdier SKB flight case with TSA-approved latches.
This guitar is not a display queen - it's been used but not abused, and I've done my best to take good care of it. There's the usual player wear for a 3+ year old guitar, some minor scuffs and dings on the back and neck, a few tiny scuffs near one tuner hole on the headstock, and a couple dents under one of the bridge posts. Nothing too substantial, however, and is in perfect working condition. The nickel hardware has accumulated some tarnish from use which I've tried to keep on for that 'vintage' look, but it can be easily polished off if you desire.
It's pretty lightweight, at around 3 kg - has a great straight 'broken-in' feeling neck with a thinner 60's contour, and the thin satin nitro finish really helps the wood breathe and have a more resonant tone overall. With new strings this almost sounds like a semi-hollow or an acoustic, and plugged in it roars. The Nailbombs are excellent for anything from soft cleans, vintagey rock to all-out metal.
