patch cables are those short cables all of us use on our pedalboard to connect from pedal to pedal. go on into the pedalboard picture thread to check it out.

and yeah... dist after modulation is going to sound very weird.

Hmm...your DS-1 should go first. Then, your chorus and flanger is up to your own preference. Personally, I would put chorus first. Others may differ in opinion.

btw normally how do we decide which goes first?

some use this sequence:

compression > distortion/overdrive > modulation (chorus, flange, phaser) > delay/tremolo > amp

it depends on you where you put the EQ pedal, some use it before the distortion, some after

btw if you want cheap patch cables, Ranking Music has some for sale really cheap, like 10sgd for 6 cable set (if i remember correctly)
