One of China's oldest instruments, the dizi is a Chinese transverse flute usually made of bamboo and it possesses a thin membrane that creates a penetrating buzzy timbre and a distinctive tone colour. On the other hand, the erhu is a two-stringed instrument belonging to the huqin (Chinese fiddle) family and is widely used in many different genres of music due to its versatility and expressive qualities.

Zeng Zhi and Liu Zhi Yue, two young musicians from the Singapore Chinese Orchestra, will perform a diverse range of dizi and erhu pieces ranging from classical folk tunes to modern masterpieces. They will also perform two specially-arranged pieces together, Autumn Moon Over the Han Palace and Almihan.
