yes, they should be. all the cores are stainless steel. the treble strings are cores without outer coils.

What give you the idea that stainless steel doesn't rust? Get Titanium strings lah... doesn't rust confirmed!

Your forks and spoons are made of different mixes of stainless steel, I believe. Less iron content, I think. After all, you have to put them in your mouth. Also, sometimes these are also rhodium plated, which lagi doesn't rust. And when you do wash them, you dry them very quickly.

One thing to remember, is that the Stainless Steel strings, I believe are still nickel plated steel wraps round stainless steel cores. So I think it's the nickel that's rusting rather than the stainless steel. The plain strings should not rust.

Titanium, on the other hand, doesn't rust. Full stop.
