Eric Clapton: Sessions for J Robert

i just checked the papers. yes, Robert Johnson is very old skool acoustic delta blues. supposed to have sold his soul to the devil... heard his CD very long time back. its chilly to say the least... and his voice is haunting...

The story of Robert Johnson selling his soul to the devil is quite a famous one......

"If you sit to wait on a crossroads near Missisipi on a moonless night, and you are willing to pay the price, you'll feel a very strange wind. Next, the Devil himslef will tune your guitar and you will be gifted with the ability to play like no one else has before. Of course that in this process you will have exchanged your soul and you will suffer for eternity in hell sooner or later." - Robert Johnson

The legend says that after you sell your soul to the devil in exchange for the gift of musical ability, you will die at the age of 27, which was the age that Robert Johnson died. After that, some fans went on to use this to explain the deaths of Nirvana frontman/guitarist Kurt Cobain and Jimi Hendrix, who both died at 27.

I owe my debt to Clapton for starting me off on the path of blues, and seeing him do it again was reassuring. The stuff he's been putting out lately has been rather pedestrian and uninspired, even the blues stuff. Well I don't begrudge him his musical direction, but it's great to see him going back to basics.
