hi guys, im a rookie whose starting to record originals with a friend, and im wondering which equipment i shud use to record it.

currently using my handphone to record the songs.. which has a 5/10 rating of recording and im not particular about sound.. maybe going for 8/10 is enough

can anyone recommend any handheld audio recorders to recommend of any programs i could download and mic to buy for computer recording? (please state the price and place to get it too, thanks! budget around $100?, actually i want it acap(as cheap as possible) haha)

also if we're doing outdoor recording.. how to determine whether the acoustics of the place is good? like must it have echo and stuff..?

thanks guys! appreciate it if u can help so we could records songs to charm the world.. =)

budget : $100
handheld audio recorders : 2nd hand MDs around $50. the MD cassette + batteries would probably cost you more unless you use adapter.
mic : $10 cash converter.
cables : from XLR > 1/4jack + 1/8 earphone adapter. = $10 around there?

you got a laptop? some laptops have inbuilt stereo mics.
if not you'll still need to get a mic + cable.

but mind you, all these will still sound kinda lo fi.

or, you can just save up and increase your budget. recommended zoom H4 ($400) to a few SOFTies lately. they swear by it.
if 400's too much you can try Zoom H2 which is about $270 around there. check Welcome to City Music!
