Equipment for busking

Hi all =)

My church cell group is going to busk to raise church funds as my church is building a new building.

We have arranged an audition with the NAC to apply for the license.

But the problem is we don't know what types of equipment should be used.

We have 3 guitarist, 3 singers(One of the guitarist is singing). I estimate we need 3 amps. We are doing acoustic songs, so it should be easier to set up.

1) Anybody got recommendations of equipment
2) How do we power up
3) Where can we get or rent such equipment?

Thanks a lot people, seniors and music khakis! God bless!

Why not just hold an internal fund raising project?

No offense, just a suggestion. My church used to organise carnivals and hold 2nd offering counts for funds to extend my church's with 1 more building.

I agree with Mirrorboy =) People would tend to be more generous in church then on the streets. But if your church is small-ish, then busking on the street's quite an interesting way to gets funds. I'm afraid I don't know much about equipment, but I do know that the basement of Excelsior has quite a few battery-powered things that'll do away with the power source problem. (The place with Maestro, Guitar connection etc) Plus, the people there would be able to offer you a wealth of advice.

3 amps is a little expensive though =/ Perhaps you might want to run through the list of approved busking locations and pick somewhere that isn't so noisy, but still has pretty high traffic. Like an MRT station or something? 3 guitars would be pretty loud on their own.

Just to share and maybe for your consideration, I have seen people busking with Roland microcubes using their acoustic guitars. I'm not very sure about portable acoustic amps nor the power source to power up your amp :(

if you're gonna be using 3 guitars and 3 vocalists, i doubt you'll need any sort of amplification at all, save maybe for the vocals so that they don't have to scream above the volume of 3 guitars.. a roland microcube will do just fine, it works on 6 AA batteries..
