im a noob in setting the proper sound for different songs. nornally i will just set a standard eq on the amp, and adjust the treble and bass on my bass(has bass, treb, and mid) depending on the songs, more bass or more treble. and many times it doesnt sound as good.

anyone knows any site that teaches more abt setting the correct eq for different songs? or is there right and wrong for setting eq?

:-)

This is a good question.
cos I am having the same dillema here,.

each and evry song got its own sound,.
and on stage, i dont have the time to change the settings on each and evry song.

how do you guys do it? or there's an EQ with presets that you just step on it like A, B and C ?
digital multi effects?
heheh

i think about this sometimes... personally, i wouldn't go for eq pedals... and i definitely won't fiddle with amp settings in great detail in between songs. my fx chain and amp are usually set to a basic tone upon which i will add and manipulate.

i use a markbass amp though, and it has 'VLE' (low pass filter) and 'VPF' (mid scoop) knobs that can be adjusted easily, without having to mess around with the 4-band eq too much.

but barring that, the most practical solution that i can see is an onboard preamp. i don't use one, my jazz bass electronics are stock... but in between songs, pickup balance and tone adjustments are the most convenient adjustments to make. the more control you have in your hands, the better :)
