EQ help!

Hi softies, I need your advice on how to tweak my eq to get a tighter bass, esp when i'm doing some palm muting work. Right now, i'm runing my Ibanez J.custom through a Korg Pitchblack Tuner> Vox Wah> MXR GT-OD> Alchemist Effects Punch Tone V2> Danelectro Fish & Chips 7-band EQ> Marshall Echohead> Vox Pathfinder 15r. How should i set my 7 band eq to achieve a tighter palm muting sound as it sounds quite saggy now? Is it due to the amp i am using?

i usually scoop the mids on EQ though, to get more crunch, but the crunch is not really ideal because like i said its still not tight enough. I thought you usually boost mids for solos? like to cut through the mix

u need mids to cut through the mix regardless of rhythm or lead. try increasing the mids and treble to get more crunch. and cut back on your gain if your gain is full.

hmmm, just tried it but didnt really get the sound i want. i dont scoop my mids all the way but just slightly. i decreased bass slightly and that kinda help. My gain and tone is at 1'o clock for most settings

Increase the 100hz and decrease the 200hz. That's what i do. The rest, up to taste.

Yeah i'm already doing that, shaped the graphic eq to a slight v shape. i guess i have to make do with it now till i get a new amp
