Hi guys, I'm still deciding which one should I buy, - Les Paul Standard or custom? Which is better?? Help me please !

custom has a mahogany/alder top, standard has maple top
custom has gold hardware, standard has chrome ones
imo, gold hardware needs to be taken care of and maintained well and frequently or itll look bad

em.. i think the custom is mahogany/alder BODY with maple TOP

^yup.
dont really understand why people like epi LPs, with the alder in them and even the special IIs which are ply.

suckasucks... why do you shy away from an LP with alder? Anything wrong with the wood?

nothing wrong with the wood.. just sounds weird, like traditional gibson LPs we all have heard were fully mahogany, much darker than those epis now. weight wise too.

well... Ever thought of how the muddy default pickups sound the way they used to due to the presence of mahogany and how alder, no matter how slightly, might just improve on that clarity?
Take my good exeprience with that alder-bodied TGM LP. The cleans were just amazing for a cheap, dual-humbucker guitar man.

when it comes to 'Epiphone', the regular models display cosmetic differences rather than marked profile contrasts. get the one you feel comfortable with rather than be bothered by the model monicker.

If I have the money to get the Ultra, I will surely get it. But I'm not buying it at SL. Too expensive.

What do you mean? The standard or custom? G77 selling it at around 600plus for custom but SL is selling it at 800plusor 1000plus.
