have not finished my review but i like it along with my other heads...

the cleans are super awesome when i tried the combo version!
i feel that it defines the tube cleans people have come to love..
really packs a punch man! great amp, great price, but not many functions..
just one knob.. and the valve special (i think) was a disappointment compared to the jr..

yes, it successfully manifests a certain aspect of a fantastic clean tone but it's only one such example. if you come across others, you might deem this as 'average'... but i consider it as one of the best in this price bracket 8-)

if you are ready for the Valve Jr, it means that you are accepting it's minimalist offering. its lacking of other features shouldn't be an issue.

nothing much to say- it's exactly the SG-612R in a head format... further comments would be available soon... 8-)

I think the first consideration on our minds when getting a minimalist tube offering like this wld be: Does it take pedals well? If it doesn't, i think there is not much purpose in making amps like this. U shld bring 1 or 2 of ur favourite pedals along to test too.

the manufacturer might/ might not have conceived such singular amps for pedal applications. it would be perfectly alright to embrace minimalism say 50 years ago when distortion was unheard of. in today's context, a good amp should provide a leeway for external supplements. but one thing for sure, the Valve Jr is superb in its 'deprived' nature and with pedals fed into it 8-)

thanks for the feedback guys..
i don't mind about its lacking features,besides i don't like amps
with lots of features..it gives me a headache to find the rite sound huh:rolleyes:
so i guess this is the amp that i'm looking for..
thanks again...

cheers.;)

is there a Marshall/ MESA brand tube? i think you are referring to the power amp/ pre-amp tube which can be swapped. the former needs re-biasing, the latter can be done by you 8-)

ok..so i have the wrong information i guess..
when it said tube amplifier, what does it mean and what is the different between pre amp tube/power amp tube/tube amp?i just don't get it..
And any mods can be done to this Epiphone Valve Jr?

Amps with preamp and poweramp tubes are generally considered full tube amps. Those without either are considered hybrid amps.

Yes, mods can be done. Do a search here or at thegearpage.net.
