If u decide to diy, here is a nice photo to motivate you..
what u need:
wd-40 to lubricate & small brushes..
get rid of those rusty screws, & clean up the guitar..
photos for illustration only, use only if no $$ & @own risk
a good guitar cleaner/solution if no have checkout the soaps..
some polish cloths if no have grab some towels in the bathroom also can..
next the electronics probably busted so go buy 3 pots, 1 for volume 2 for tones
cheap ones abt $2.50/$5.00 will do, at same time get new jack input & 5pt switch
if dunno ask guitar parts shop, say for need for strat.. if u need pickups i got some leftover..
who knows the guitar u wanna throw away may end up look like this?

i tried those epi strats way back then before, well i wasnt into them.
mostly made in the samick factory, and with laminated bodies.
around 95/96 when i tried them, i can only recall s-210 and the s-310 which is the one u normally see pop-up on ebay etc.
of cos they had the respective tele ones which i also didnt bother...cos it was g-400 ftw then
