epiphone or edwards

hi, im a new softie and i was wondering which to get... i really love sgs but i hate dot inlays. my budget is around $1000 and im planning to get an edwards sg 80 d or a epiphone tony iommi g400 ... should i order from davis, if i order from davis, how much should it be ... i saw the price of the epiphone sg in swee lee online $800 but it says $1000 at swee lee itself, so does that mean its cheaper to buy online?and is boss metal zone a good effect?

epi tony iommi SG, it also comes standard with Gibson iommi signature pickups.
just take note there are 2 versions of it, 22 and 24 fret.
i would look for the 24 fret one if i was you.

i'm not a keen Epi fan but i have respect for the Iommi SG for its outright good tones + playability.

me latest guitar is an Edwards- worth every cent 8)

thanks for the help guys, btw im eyeing on the 24 fret iommi... btw is the price at swee lee online accurate, im scared they will charge me $1000 when i buy online instead of the listed price $800.. i am still deciding on whether to get 24 fret medium weight iommi or a 22 fret super light weight edwards.. its a tough decision
im not sure whether i can trust davis or swee lee
both might try to scamm me
btw is it worth it to get the modified metal zone from guitar 77 for $275?

If i had the choice, Edwards all the way.

much better wood (solid 1 or 2 pc high-quality mahogany instead of multi-piece laminated 'mahogany'), superior craftsmanship and stock Seymour Duncan USA pickups for only a bit more $.

first of all, welcome to soft.
secondly, I remembered that we discussed all your questions during work :lol: . basket, talk to you can volmit blood :smt078 .

the bottomline is, try those guitars. if you like, buy. however, make sure you buy the one that you've tried. no 2 guitars sound the same. MIC Epiphones are kinda like hit or miss. it would be better if you could find a Korean made. personally, I think Edwards would be a better deal.

you can trust both Swee Lee and Davis. they have been around for so long. no dodginess involved.

oh, if you are really keen on the MT-2, here is my suggestion.

simple thing is, go to swee lee and try those epiphones. if they really cannot make it, order an Edwards from Davis and pray that you'll get a good sounding one. good luck.

however if you are damn unlucky and nothing works out, work a few more hours la hahhaha :lol: . at least you'd have more time to think about what to get next right?

davis' prices for edwards is very reasonable, just a bit more than what u will pay in japan. it'll be around $1000-1100 for the SG.

edward's quality has been very consistent in those that i have owned or played. which means you have a very good chance of getting a good piece if u buy edwards la.

hmm 2 suggestions. either get Davis to bring in an Edwards SG for you or get your jap friend to help you choose and ship it to you. I would prefer the latter but you might want to compare prices first.

SD's are good. however, I've heard raving reviews about the new gibson burstbucker pickups. maybe you could get some suggestions from SG users here on soft.

since you said that the Edwards SG has some SD designed pickups, maybe you should stick to them first. change pickups only when you feel that something is lacking somewhere in your current pickups.
