When you guys need it modded, look for me! LoL

oh by the way, i own a valve jr head. and its modded can come try first

please please go and MOD the valve junior if you buy one. worth every cent i say. do note however. valve junior is somewaht gain handicapped (2 preamp gain stage only) so while you are at it (modding), you can do something about that too. :)

I think I'll post on my website soon a proper list of mod features.

but tonally, the most common mods out there are the "Fenderized" "Vox" and "Marshall mods"
and most importantly are the health mods, like proper biasing and grid resistors to protect the power tubes.

Oh yes... That too...

But Epiphone have long since upgraded their OTs to the correct 5k Primary already.

I wonder if the one sweelee stocks is the V1,2 or 3

Pre-review comments:

Valve Jr Head

*impressive inherent tone if you are after cleans only
*responsive to all pickup types (humbucking/ single coil/ high gain/ etc...)
*needs a good cab/ driver to manifest good tones. the Eminence equipped cab/ combo is highly recommended

So-CAL 50H

*impressive cleans (not losing out to the Valve Jr, definitely...)
*very good break up tone in driven mode- muddy per se but it's begging you to just plug in some drive pedals
*bass-inclined; watch your EQ
*performs well in both 50/25W modes- crank it up in its lower wattage & hear what the So-CAL has to offer

hey.. how much is the cab equipped amp? i'm looking for a cheaper, smaller tube amp.... how would this compare with the valbee? in terms of clean, and how they take drive pedals?

the Valve Jr combo lists for $480 which isn't quite value for money as it's only a single channel unit. however, if you don't mind paying this price for good cleans (you can live with pedals anyway, yes?), it's worth the investment.

the ValBee isn't quite supreme in its clean voicing but it's one of the better ones out there. the ValBee has on board drive & an EQ section for you to meddle with for some flexible manipulations unlike the very utilitarian nature of the Valve Jr. the ValBee also lists for much lesser.

there's much talk when it comes to the Valve Jr in the mean time but what really caught me tone-wise, is definitely the So-Cal 50H :)
