EMGS with passives

Hey guys I have a question,

So i am actually using an ibanez that has a HSH configuration. Recently I managed to get a set of emgs 85/81 specifically. What I want to ask is it possible to wire it up with a passive single coil? Or must there be special pots, mods involved? Thanks in advance.

correct me if I'm wrong but hide from X Japan used to do that. Like LadyInTears mentioned, it's not impossible but very tedious only because you have to get someone to create a circuit to make the 2 work together. I'm not sure who can do such a mod but no harm asking around.

end of the day even if you can have active and passive tones coming from your guitar, don't expect magical tones coming out. however to me, the cool factor is worth all the effort.

he had a dimarzio super distortion and EMG 85 combo, in fact i still want to try that combo out today

imma huge hide fanatic hence i knew about this from researching his gear, consulted Beez regarding this issue and at the end of the day, didn't do it.. it would have been tedious, expensive, and probably not worth the 'upgrade'
