Electric guitar package & headphone amp

Hi guys, I'm a total newbie and have not even bought my first guitar (planning to learn from online videos first). My budget for a guitar package is only $300 (still a student, no $$ T_T) but I wanted headphone amps instead of those with speaker coz I onli want myself to hear wad I play as i'm juz a newbie

hmm my question is, am I able to get electric guitar package for only $300? And...will I be able to change the amp of tht package to those ultra-compact amps which u can plug headphone into it?

Hmm I know i'll go for distortion effects but is buying a pedal the only way to have that effect? T_T so costly when everything adds up.

Hmm btw wad are the 2 states for amplifiers? I remember 1 is solid-state amp, another i forgot...issit errr liquid-state amp? =X

you can get a package at between 450-599,for brands like epiphone or fender.they include everything you need to start as a beginner.get the basics right b4 you get your pedals, if not it will be a waste.the amps that come with the package are usually 10watts and very small, not exactly loud either.

amps come in solid state and valve state.solid states are digital amps, easier to maintain and is cheaper, but the sound is more artificial.valvestates are also known as tubes, the sound is warmer, nicer if you play rock like gnr genre.they are more expensive and i love their sound.i have a marshall valvestate AVT-100X and a solid state mg microstack.

if you are really interested in playing long term, have a budget around 1k.you will be able get the good stuff.good guitar and good amp

hi there 8)

if you intend to focus on playing well before moving up in terms of gear, the packaged deal is a sensible acquisition. the SX GG1K package listing for $235 (available @ Davis) isn't a bad offer at all- you get a singlecut guitar + amp to kick off your learning journey. any tonal dissatisfactions thereafter could be addressed via pedal acquisition, but let this be the least of your concern.

@aero_91 - haha thnx for the info and yea I think I won't get getting pedals till a later stage but my budget still remains at 300, the most 400 for packages XD i'm gonna be broke after that =X Can't tell whether it'll be long term but I still have strong interest for it as for now :D

@subversion - that's...a good deal =D it even comes along with a guitar bag =p~ need to check out davis @ peninsula plaza for this package and other packages (if any) some day =D nice lol sry i'm juz a budget/poor guy =X

Hmm but I am still wondering if I can plug headphones into the amps (or even the guitar o.O) so that I can pump up the volume in late night. And issit possible that I change that amp in the package into ultra-compact amps while buying, so tht I can carry it around in my bag? =X

I've juz called Davis and they say they still have that SX GG1K package @ $235 =D

oh ya btw that guitar in the SX GG1K package...issit a tele? coz I like strat's design =D (dunno the real meaning of tele/strat, so i tot the shape depicts the name tele/strat) pls enlighten me =)

i believe that design is a Les Paul-esque. (single cutaway) *thx sub

strat/tele. go look at the gallery thread. lots of em there to see.

above- shapes of the guitars mentioned in the previous threads.

the SX GG1K, as mentioned in my initial post, is a single cutaway guitar, very much in the like of a Les Paul but definitely isn't one. if you prefer the shape of the strat, then you'd do well to check out the SX SST-62 package:

note that the SST-62 features a trio of single coil pickups which are noisy with distortion in use.

=D thnx for the infos.
oooh yea i love the shape of a tele. Hmm i checked out the diff between tele and lp and yea like u said, i find tht single coil pickups sounds more "noisy" as in buzzy? I dunno how to say abt humbucker pickup's sound but it sounds "warmer" to me (dunno if tht's the word to use) =0 err is tht true?

Hmm juz wanna know, are strats more for metal/ hard-rock genres? But erm wad abt lp? =X

hehe after Monday i'll be going around all sorts of guitar shops to do some window shopping b4 settling down on a package XD exciting~

normally, people buy strats not for heavy hard rock... in this case, perhaps u'll prefer a humbucking guitar.. and a good one can be found at a cheaper price..
humbuckers produce a more "full" sound, whereas single coils are more "glassy", if u understand these terms which i really hate to use... words cant describe sound,
perhaps if you dont know how to play, go to a friendly guitar shop, (i highly recommend g77) and ask the guys there to help u find what you want..

ooo ic =D
hmm yea I roughly get wad u mean by a fuller sound or a glassy one XD
lol are there any strats with humbucker pickups? haha I like the outlook of a strat but the sound of humbucker pickups =X

hehe yea i'll be going to guitar77/davis and ask around =)

aiya, lespauls also orgasmic...
everything is orgasmic.

glassy as in, single coiled sounds, but then again words REALLY cant describe tone..

metal or hard rock is often associated with flying v, explorers and sometimes les pauls.but seldom you see fenders.

there are actually strats with both humbucking and single coil.look for those fenders that say "HSS"they have 2 singlecoil and 1 humbucker.

there are fender fans in the metal domain, but note the humbucking preference:

ohhh~ icic
I searched the net and end up getting to this site abt how to change those single coils to humbucker coils =X lol I dun mean i'll try tht on my new guitar.

hmm but are we able to get those strats with 2 single coil & 1 humbucker or even all humbuckers right off the shelve or do we have to modify the guitar ourselves? =X[/u][/url]
