i saw buddy guy. trust me, you didnt miss a thing. he didnt play his blues stuff. it was all rockish music and his demeanour felt very cold and alienating. he pulled out all his stage tricks out of the bag, so everything felt very planned and what you have seen in previous concerts. he wants popularity instead of playing it for the music. when he came to harbour pavilion in the 90s, he was much better, but not this time round.
i'd rather listen to his chess recordings

You referring to Mosaic? Don't think that's Earth, Wind & Fire. It's a band doing Earth, Wind and Fire covers.

Should be fun though..

ok guys: feedback time.

the guys were really good.
one of the founders (the guitarist) was on stage. 12 musicians were playing/singing with him.

pretty good performance!
but indeed: it was not Earth, Wind and Fire (the original band)

tomorrow I'm going to George Clinton.
I hope it will be MR George Clinton himself!! :)

A little too critical. Don't you think so?

Definitly being over critical... I've been to both and I still thought he was still great. I'm glad I'm not a purist because if I felt that Buddy didn't make my $70 worth it, well, that would suck would it? As for the Al McKay Allstars, I was fortunate to get my ticket free from Najip Ali this time round. Amazing, amazing, amazing show. Though these two concerts were diffrent, I kind of preferred this year's one because of the intense energy generated especially from the three lead singers. I think the argument of if they are the original Earth, Wind & Fire, is based totally on star power and pretty superficial IMO. Even if they were only two original members and thus making this lineup pretty much a "tribute band", I still thought it's still a great, great, great, show. I mean, come on, how could I complain? I got the ticket free. Hahaha. But even if I forked out $120 for that, very worth it. They literally got everyone on their feet. Really amazing guys with their vocal harmonizations. The fact that the drummer is 22 years old was pretty baffling. I mean here I am 2 years younger and still studying trying to find my niche in life... Pah, anyway, back to the thing, Al himself was great. That solo on That's The Way Of The World was shit tasteful! Even so, I think he preferred to remain in the max and let the horn section and vocals shine through. Oh yeah, speaking about the horn section... That sax player Ed Wynne... WOW!

well, lets put it this way. for a blues artist, you'd expect that he'd play mainly blues. but how many blues tunes did he play?

zero. not a single one.

i don't think my comments are overcritical. i'm sure you'd be cheesed off if incubus came and played only folk music and not a single hit of theirs.

george clinton on the other hand, absolutely rocked!
