Drumset opinions and assistance

Hi all softies!

Just wondering what is your opinion on buying drumset/kits from Johor? Particularly electronic drumkits...
Was looking at getting them over the causeway, since it may be a little cheaper considering the exchange rates...

I.e. Roland HD-1 [Swee Lee Promotion price:SGD 1,600 ... saw on a website a store at Pelangi selling SGD 1,295]
I assume this "discount" applies on the board to all other models.. and still may be able to get additional discounts there

Downside:
Not too sure how reliable they are (however, I do have friend there who plays drums.. so he might be able to recommend)
Warranty issues, maybe?

If you are heading over to Johor to buy and collect the kit, it probably might be fine? The make should be the same as those found in Swee Lee because they are all imported from the USA. The only downside is when you have a problem with the kit, you'll probably need to head back to Johor to return/exchange. This would be really troublesome if you run into multiple problems. Travelling to and fro is just time consuming.
Also, check the entire deal package and compare it to what Swee Lee is offering and see whether saving the $300 is really worth it.

Good luck!

Yup... Confirm tax will be imposed as the personal tax relief coming back from Msia is S$200 within 24hrs and $300 more than 24hrs. Figures abv was what I recalled the last time an ICA friend told me but to get these facts accurate, check out ICA's website for further info.

My rule of thumb is if the savings is more than 30% of what you can get locally, I'll consider getting them.

Gd luck!

I was at Yamaha @ Jusco Tebrau and yes the sets are at least 300 lesser. Perhaps its worth getting it there if you can avoid the gst charges by claiming its "used"
