Down-tuned guitar problems

I have a Jackson with a string-through body tune-o-matic bridge which is tuned in drop-C ie. one whole step from standard with the 6th string in C. It is stringed with .52-.010 guaged strings. The first thing I realised is the fret buzzing so naturally I increased the bridge height. At the moment, the increase in bridge height do eliminate some buzzing but there's still some rattling in the lower frets (1st-5th).

I just want to know if there's other methods, which i can execute by myself and not through a tech, to eliminate the buzzing other than increasing the height of the bridge as the action seems precariously high at the moment to me.

Thanks in advance for all advice.

that's the trade-off when one uses thicker gauged string + down-tune.

the adventurous would engage in nut-replacement but it's not adviceable for novice players.

the other consideration- accept the buzz if it doesn't manifest itselt through the amp.

Yeap :)

You can use thicker strings. :)

Seriously.

Ask Vaiyen, he tunes to C (not drop C) and a set of 12s are not really tensioned enough. However, he managed to get good low action on his guitar with NO fretbuzz.

Consider having somehting like 12 - 60.

Michael Amott uses 11-59's in his ESP ninja tuned to C standard. Alexi laiho uses 11-50's for his D standard and drop C's too.

I think 12-54's should be ok for you.

I've been playing guitar downtuned for quite some time already. I havent got a chance to meet up any guitar tech in singapore that can setup a downtuned axe well. Either they'll set your action flying high or string it with outrageous gauge like 13's for Drop D.

Ok guys. Thanks for the advice so far and I think I'll just try thicker guages then. But say, I string it with a .59 or .60 for the 6th string, is there a need to change the nut? Presently, the .52 doesn't seem to sit too well on the nut slot so I foresee a major problem if I increase the guage further. Are there any off-the-shelf nut for such thick guages or must i customise one myself?

for my axe, ernie ball .10's are adequate for D standard. And the tech also adjusted the intonation and did a bit of fret leveling (but this was due to my guitar having a couple of un even frets). Anyway, he got the action pretty alright, not too high nor too low. this was done on both my guitars, a 24.75" and a 25.5" scale

kank have u check the neck relief?
it could be neck need adjustment..
try to find someone that can set up for u..
rather than changing strings..

my guitar is tune to standard D ..but im using 11-56..no problem watsoever

dunno abt C standard tune...im just afraid that the string will flabby...
