any idea how i can do stuff like George Kollias? what are the techniques and what to emphasize on/look out for?

Jen - come to the Xchange - there are many drummers here who can help you on this double pedal thing (How-To) ... blissuicide taught me how to do the Basics .. good ! - but I never practice it...

I think its best you learn Heel and toe. But he uses longboards so its easier from him to swivel plus there is trigger. He's blast beats are super fast, usually he blasts using one pedal. Go youtube and search up "heel and toe".

The secret is practise hahaha. like seriously. Use ur ankles and not ur whole leg as much as you can.

When is the meet up what time where? I forgot hahaa.

Smilezdrums is a big kollias fan :)

Meet up is this saturday 15th December, 12pm to 5pm. Ulu Pandan CC. Cya there! Heel toe is just one alternative to get quick doubles. Try sliding also. See which one you're comfortable with. Personally, I find that I can do heel toe faster than sliding.

anyone know where i can find cheap yet good pedals ? i mean i know they ain't gonna be as good as the upper range type. but ya know wat i mean. :D ... anyone ? i heard pacific pedal - anyone know where to get this ?

brainwash, maybe you wanna give carlos pedals a try. Or lazer. Say if your budget is below 200. If your budget is higher, you can go for elims, cobras etc.

Personally I'd save up for elims. They're great pedals and very adjustable. I find cobras too unresponsive and heavy-legged. Plus i find the pedal groove patterns annoy my foot while playing....

try applying the moeller to you master foot..

ull realise the knee of your master foot going Down(1kick) and Up(1kick).

Let the other foot follow up with every beat your master foot makes.

you'll realise ur playing 16notes, 1 e n a 2 e n a etc..., with 1 2 3 4 getting accented..

and wala.. there you go.. now all u need to do is practice gaining speed..

Is that a like a continous heel toe that i've seen some people do? Or issit 1 accent followed by 3 'rebound / ankle tap' notes?

I've been wondering waht in the world moeller for the leg is all about for some time already... Would appreciate if you could enlighten me a bit. Thanks

I think the biggest issue with using the Moeller are the accents. I personally think that technique which forces an accent anywhere makes it impossible to play all musical phrases comfortably. One should be able to play accents anywhere they want to (with practice of course) and not be restricted to having an accent somewhere "by-default".

The swivel technique works on getting even sounding notes....giving you freedom to place accents anywhere you want to. For me, that is still work in progress but regardless of which technique you decide to work on, be sure to pick one that gives you the most musical freedom.

Good luck!

Its more of Tap toe... ah heck what ever u call it..

we had an exchange, Alvin described abt pedalling technique on doing double beats with ur single pedal.

Even he said its more of Tap tap instead of what everybodys saying (heel toe)..

and I agree coz thats what ive been doing for a very long time also.. haha..

Just go start pedalling As much as u can. And Always start slow.

Work on the Consistency instead of the Speed.

and dont just do it for hrs, Do it for months and yrs..

U'll come out with a technique by urself..

Dont think so much, Dont Talk too much, Get ur A on that Throne
Stay Focused And Practice...

Thats wat i did..

i dont know whether you drummers get this. its really strange. i can play doubles like constant death metal sorta thing but once i start to THINK about it the heads tend to get locked so instead of like 1.2.1.2.1.2.1.2. suddenly it becomes 1.2.1.2.1.1.1.1 [1 and 2 just represents the even beating of the pedal.] they end up slapping the bass drum together. any tips for not THINKING while you drum. besides knocking yourself out with a brick in the mist of playing.
