Until now, i feel that Doom Metal lacks exposure in Singapore.
It's hard to find one who enjoys this dark atmospheric genre of metal.

Any thoughts on these?

well probably becouse in singapore the doom people are very much underground.i have to admit though i love cathedral.and i think doom was quite popular in the early to mid 1990's?i maybe wrong though.

+1 to Cathedral (& Confessor) 8-)

majority of the doom bands peddle crawl-pace music; it's one of the reasons why people aren't too keen- it gets boring easily. but i enjoy good, guitar-driven music, regardless of the genre.

As long as it's good, I'll listen to it.

I haven't really heard doom. But is it as near as it can get to slow atmospheric black metal music?

Sabbath was technically doom sounding, so you can say doom is the 1st ever metal genre..haha

Doom.....Lordi is doom right?

No, Lordi is a Joke!

Ok joking.. Lordi are more heavy metal type..

Sabbath was technically doom sounding, so you can say doom is the 1st ever metal genre

Sabbath is doom. And they are of course the pioneer of traditional doom metal..

One of the other pioneers of modern doom metal is Candlemass... You can't miss them out...
I do enjoy Virgin Black alot. Any listeners of this band?

Not forgetting Pentagram.. Also one the pioneers of traditional doom..

I too enjoy alot of stoner.. Bands such as Sleep, Eternal Elysium, Electric Wizard etc..

In fact I enjoy anything with DOOM!

I'm not a fan of Stoner... Just don't know why... Forcing my way into that genre though...
On a side not, core genres is just giving me headaches...

Im never a fan of core music.. And this is currently my favourite thread as of today!

Oh yes, Death/Doom are also good.. Swallow the sun, Morgion, Infernal Gates and stuff..
It's a bit melodic but still heavy in a sense..

Early paradise lost are good.. Same goes for Amorphis.. I like their earlier stuff.. More doomy!

Seriously, i created this thread when i saw your post "Any doom fans here?"
And realised that you got no reply for that.
So hope this helps.

It's also a thread where people learn more about the genre. Get good recommendations from Doom listeners.

If there's another guy who comes and talk about any "Doomcore" genre, he'll get his bum kick....
