i'm sure its a familiar case, but of cuz i'm here to judge anything, just trying to say that sometimes we offer information to the best of our knowledge e.g. Davis brings in ESP Guitars, G77 brings in Epiphone LP and Music Theme has Shine guitars and/or Guitar77 does setup jobs and stuffs etc.

i'm sure those are informations we can share with fellow softies, can we?

how can the specs for custom guitar not to be known or stated?? its a "custom" guitar, which in my interpretation is customized according to one's specifications, so there has got to be specifications listed for the POT guitar that is made.. even Epiphone provides specs of their guitars online, less the fact that they are mass produced guitars..

It is very obvious though that certain parts of POT are handmade. Upon close examination of the inlays you can see an outlining of black epoxy/filler which should not be present had a CNC machine been used.

What then follows from this inaccurate engraving of inlays extends to a limitation of producing a neck with the utmost intricate precision that conforms to the purchaser's specs 100%. Hence this should explain the inability to fully spec a neck.

Anyway, with regards to the unbelieveable maple tops, it is my guess that there is a geniune maple top, but with a veneer on top for comestic purposes. No big loss to me, but I prefer plain maple tops nowadays. Figured ones are just so cliche 8)

Customization comes at many levels. I don't believe at any point of time G77 claimed to be a full custom shop; anything you desire kind of concept. If you look at warmoth, they call themselves a custom shop but with limited customizable options. You can mix and match and choose a certain neck profile etc but there are still many things which they won't do as well.

I think its safe to call yourself a custom shop as long as one provides a guitar which allows you some choice in certain components like wood choice, colour, pickup configuration; that's customization at some level. I guess consumers have to be realistic as well. All that talk about Anderson's, Grosh etc, are not true totally customizable guitars as well. They just have a variety of options. Pot may have less options but still customizable to some extent. For a fraction of the price of a Grosh or Anderson, I would say be thankful for another option in this market 'customizable' guitars.
