Does crazy guitar solos really matters..?

well, i'm abit old fashion in a sense that if i wanna perfect a song, i just play it till i get it perfect. there's no such thing as u wanna perfect a song but when u fail at a certain point, u just give up. doesnt matter if its string skipping or shredding or the damn complicated chord changes. if u wanna perfect it, just practice more on those parts. just my opinion though...

Woot !!! Thumb Up

nice way to put it lol.. but to put it crudely is that yea you'll get it if you really keep practicing the same thing alright but its just a matter of when..

but as humans sometimes there are simply stuff which our limited experience and and for this instance our muscles doesnt permit us to do, but yea maybe a decade or 2 later wouldnt be a prob :(

bf0502br is not old fashioned. He is determined. :) I think determination is very important in guitar especially when doing things you don't believe yourself capable... keep practicing and very, very likely you'll get it. You can expect a pleasant surprise down the road. Maybe not instantaneously but someday you'll get it.

I'll admit I'm not a good guitarist, and my shredding is even worse. But I was forced to perform a short shred section that was part of a song I was playing, so I had no choice but to keep at it and it worked out. And I had quite a bit of fun with the shred section too. :p

Hmmmm i assumed the TS was talking about improvised solos during the song. Perhaps i was wrong? And yes bf0502tr is absolutely correct. Practice, practice and practice is the only way up.

and make sure you practice the 'right' way too.
bad techniques will deter you from getting where you want to go.

just like me ...... 25+ yrs of playing, i still suck LOLz

in my opinion... wat matters the most is that if the solo fit the song. Fast shreds in the end will all sound almost the same.

ooo, i disagree with the "sound almost the same" part, unless ur saying the improvised solo will sound similar to the original solo. take for example, a heavy metal solo will not sound similar at all to another rock solo, unless in the rare case, the key of the song and the speed of the song is the exact same, and somehow the guitarist uses his own "template" for the solo, and thus using the template for both of the different songs

Heehee. I was the first poster on this thread to remark that shred solos sound the same in the end. But, I take it back because this thread brings to mind two shredding styles that are so obviously different, but perfectly fitting to their respective musical styles: John Petrucci and Kerry King.

IMO, whether you want to have crazy solos, simple solos or no solos at all, it's up to you. I still consider the rhythm section far more important. But there's something about crazy solos. It's awesome fun... :p

true to that.. i prefer the rhythm section.. solo screw up not that important but if rhythm screw up.. the whole song will be pulled down.. like drums skips a beat.. whole tempo become haywired

I personally also don't like those stuff with excessive amounts of shreds. Especially stuff like Michael Angelo Batio, etc... To me, those stuff are too messy and is more like a show-off kinda thing to me.

I am currently unable to shred yet, but I don't think I'm going towards that direction either. stuff from people like Michael Amott of Arch Enemy, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Gary Moore, Paul Guibert are good. But of course they are too far-fetched for me in my current level of playing.

for me I play solo got shredding so hard to play haiz
I play rhythm soo many chords to memorise haiz.
so sad so sad, nothing in life is easy life is made up of soo many hard things and what happens everyone still ends up in the grave, life is meaningless
