DIY pedal board

hi everyone,

was thinking of making my own pedal board and bag , to carry my pedals and to accomodate future ones as well... just would like to know whats the best way of making one?

Personally, very simply, a piece of wood with velcro. This facilitates easy swapping of pedals. Oh, and dont forget to add in a power supply adapter. As for what pedals to use, that's entirely up to you.

actually, it doesnt even have to be wood. Whatever you can dig up thats hard enough to support the pedals. Plastic, wood, steel sheet, glass, whatever. It really is all up to you man. But the velcro part is really useful, if you get what I mean. Just make sure the board is big enough not only for all the pedals you wanna use now, but just in case you decide to expand your pedal collection in the future.

Cheers!

Main supply -> Power adaptor -> pedals.

It really is as simple as that. The power adaptor is made specifically for pedals, what with the female / male jacks, and connects directly to the pedal. Of course, you have to get enough ports for the pedals. I believe they sell the extentions.

Let me see if I can get you the link...

For Ibanez stuff. Should give you an idea on what others look like.

Can you list some ways to hook up the power supply? I'm having trouble with that.

Visual Sound 1 spot. You can order them from Mr Misse. I bought one, and one unit alone is enough to power up a number of pedals. I kinda forgot how many exactly, but 10 would be a good number. Mr Misse also sells the daisy chain extensions which praetorian has mentioned.

hmm what kind of wood? any recommendations and where to get one that is suitable?

A simple plank will do. I got plywood from IKEA. It's not expensive either. Pardon me for not providing the figures, my memory fails me :(

where to get velcro

Hardware Stores :)

where to get velcro

Most DIY/home fix it shops will sell, some stationery shops shld have it too.

Anw i made my own pedalboard over the weekend, bought a 16x14 piece of wood from art friend, some felt material cloth (red in colour) and proceeded to cover the wood board with the cloth. It was a primitve process involving super glue and thumbtacks but managed to do a somewhat clean job. Velcroed on my pedals and voila. To power up the pedals i juz need to daisy chain them and using juz one power adapter.

Most would go out and buy a pedalboard that comes with the power options and a hard case but since i didn't have the budget i made my own which cost me less than 20bucks to get the stuff. Anws i wanted a red colored velvet looking kind of board. :D

P.S of course alternatively u can get a wood board and stick on the velcro and for color options can paint on the color of ur choice.

I must agree with Cereal. The good thing is that pedal boards, how to make them, design and such, are completely up to you. Plus it isnt expensive or complicated to make. Have fun creating your pedalboard!

Hey pooo how much did you pay for the 1spot adaptor? and the daisy chain extensions? and where can i find this mr misse?

www.mrmisse.com Contact no. and email there.

I can't remember how much exactly. I paid 70 plus in all i think. Got 2 daisy chains and 1 adaptor.

I can't recommend the 1spot enough hehe. It's simply one of the best, and it's SMALL.

To keep the pedals stuck and unmovable on the board. You don't want them to be knocked over while performing. Disastrous if you can't access your pedals when you need them.

Well ya pedalboard has all those fancy effects right?

So you probably would do it like this

Guitar --> Pedals on pedalboard ---> Amp.

Hmm, perhaps he wanted the sequence?

Guitar -> distortion etc -> noise supressor -> EQ -> wah -> amp.

Thats how to do it, i think... or was noise supressor supposed to come last among pedals? Lol...

If it's sequence he wants, it should be something along the lines of this:

Guitar -> Wah, Compressor, Overdrive, EQ, Vibrato, Chorus, Tremolo, Volume Pedal, and Delay-> Amp.

Noise suppressor at the back to kill off unwanted noises. Wah placement something which is of personal preference, usually either before the Overdrive/distortion effects or immediately after. Not so far back down in the chain.

I think Guitar-Efx-Compressor(Compress the more constant input level signals like OD, Distortion,Wah,) than the reverb/Delay/Chorus/Flanger(signals which are repetive and decay longer) - Noise Supressor (if it's noisy).
If you want warmth. Just run it through tubes.

He's the man.
