Hi Guys,

I'm thinking of DIYing my own strat. Was thinking if I buy the neck and body, would most of them fit properly? Or are there some cons involved? Also, anyone know where can I get a strat reverse neck?

Thanks

he is probably refering to reverse headstock.
i helped my buddy diy his strat and what he did was to buy two different second hand which cost him $50 and $90 each.if i'm not wrong he bought an aria for $50 cause the electronics were not working, forget what the other was. for a reverse headstock, i have no idea where you could get. try ordering online.

yeah i love people who DIY 8)

there's no guarantee that every neck will fit every body though, best is to take measurements and try it out yourself. Try sourcing the 2nd hand market for the neck, if you're lucky u might find a nice one!

the recommended way is to always buy the body and neck from the same supplier.
if from diff suppliers, sometimes the neck thickness where it joins the body maybe thicker / thinner than the body joint depth.
and reverse neck is simply a lefty neck, but of cos you'll need to change the nut so the strings can fit.

theres this new shop i saw at penni near music theme n davis, rite nex to the stairs one...they sell a package where u hav everything u need to build ur own custom..u can even shape ur own headstock..i tink its good for beginners to try diy..i tink itll b cheaper oso...cosi tink they give crap electronics///

strat with reverse neck?

you mean, you want a strat neck with reverse headstock?

Yes, sry, I meant reverse headstock. Any shops you know and recommended that does custom work for guitars?

Thanks

guitar connection not bad..go find kevin..

yes kelvin does great work. you can look for him. they sell strat parts too.
a left hand neck can fit onto a right hand body for standard strats (standard square neck joint). BUT! you won't be able to see your side dots! ofcourse that's no big deal if you dont look at the side dots in the first place.

^^EXTREMELY good site to check out.

IMO: to make a neck without the proper tools ... is a DISATER waiting to happen ~!
(especially if it is ur 1st project)

i'd advice getting a neck from warmoth...
den sculpting the body to the neck ... ( and ur own dimensions)

It's great fun ...
But ... time and $ invested in has to be worth it (intrinsic motivation not accounted for)~!

Well ... we've got heaps of ppl in this forum who have great and wonderful advice ...
Problem is the tools ...
if you intend to get any .,.. http://www.stewmac.com/ is the most reliable ...
Also ... apply for the free newsletter ...
it really helps ~!

Thanks for the replies bros. Wanna check roughly how much does Guitar Connection sell a body and a left handed neck?

Does the body shape comes in any type of wood? Or is it strictly Alder.

Anyone knows if a rosewood fret can be scalloped?

Thanks

yes it can..i tink its bout 600 to 800 for a set of painted body n scalloped neck n some hardware...best bet is to go ask kevin himself...n make a deal..
