dimarzio wiring

hey guys,

i just got a tone zone and air norton today, can anyone tell me which colour to connect to which pot. i wanna coil tap it too.

i have the pot with me.

The manuals are on the Dimarzio website. You can just refer to them and wire.

Coil tapping will be a little difficult... i assume you're doing this for the first time. Dimarzio has one for coiltaps i think.

Refer to dimarzio site for color codes. Basically for 4 conductor wiring u have a total of 5 wires. One bare ground wire and 4 colored wires. The ground goes to, well, gound.

The other 4 are connected to the start and end of the 2 pickup coils. Lets call em coil A and coil B. The standard way of wiring humbuckers is to have the coils in series. So connect the start of 1 coil to the end of the other.

E.g. Coil B start to Coil A's end.

Then Coil B's end goes to ground and Coil A's start is your hot output.

To coil tap, basically wat u do is u short the connection where B & A are connected by connecting that to ground. Do this using ur switch or push/pull pot. When it's grounded, u are basically shorting coil B to the ground, leaving u with just coil A. And there u have a single coil.

I'm assuming you;re using a push pull pot, hence probably DPDT. U will wanna short the north coil on one pickup and the south coil on the other. So that when u run both pickups together u still get a humcancelling config.

yes, my first time doing a coil tap. and also first time doing a 4 condutor point. so basically i wire the start and end together so its the hot output?

then which wire goes where to the pot? according to the diamarzio paper, its shw me the connection on my tone pot bt it can i do the same for both PUs?

Go through the site I gave u the url to. They have diagrams for almost every popular wiring config.

yea, i went there, jst that it doesnt tell me where to wire to the volume pot, tone pot also also hw to use a push pull

When u bought the new pickup..
the wiring diagram comes together with it..

as for the Coil tap (Push pull) that a bit tricky...

and does it matter which side the pole ends and the bolt end faces?

the wiring diagram isnt very clear to me. bt i went to the dimarzio webbie and got the actualy drawings, jst that it doesnt include the coil tap part.
