Hi guys .. i got some really big problem here ... how to differentiate between the MIJ / MIC / MIK epiphone ... the MIC i know there is sticker or tag at behind , how bout MIJ or MIK ??? cuz recently want to buy Epiphone ... but there's nothing that stated which country it is made from .. thnx and anything i should take notice when buying this epiphone ???

Uh, from what I know, MIJ epi's have the same headstock shape as the Gibsons. MIK and MIC ones have a new one. And uh... MIC epis have much thicker necks than MIK ones. And that's about all I know...

i recently tried 2 MIC LP standards.
VERY LIGHT body, and a thin neck, much thinner than my MIK LP custom.

MIJ will have diff headstock and 2 screw truss rod cover.
MIC has serial with 2 letters.

MIJ epi's are not necessarily Elitist. there are also the post orville lot.

So there is 2 types.

the post orville lot has the same headstock design as gibson. you can see pictures courtesy of orangeguitar:

elitist have the "elitist" stamp at the back of the headstock.

so both the MIJ type of LP are the easiest to identify from the MIK and MIC.

Kudos. Do a check for the serial of the Epi you wanna get against this site. Will tell you the manufacture date/place/ and even the number your guitar was in line.

Or if you wanna buy on the spot and wanna know if its a MIK/MIC, the first letters of the serial give a veeeery good answer..

An "I" at the beginning means manufactured by Sae In (Korea); "U" means by Unsung (Korea); "P" means Peerless (Korea); "S" means Samick (Korea);

"R" have allegedly been manufactured in the Aria plant;

DW = DeaWon (China); EA = Gibson/QingDao (China); EE = Gibson/QingDao (China); MC = Muse (China); SJ = SaeJung (China); BW = China

"B" (found on some Korina G-400 is Bohêmia Musico-Delicia (Czech Republic);

SI = Samick Indonesia

F = Fujigen (Japan)
