Hi newbie here. Could someone please explain to me what is the difference between these 2? thanks

synth produce sound ...

controller control midi .... =P

ps: off topic ... do you know that in Normal (Technical) Music Syllabus in Secondary School, there are a lot of errors in terms and the way they say things?

one example

"learn how to record sounds from midi controller, and convert sounds to musical notation"

**for those who doesn't understand, midi controller don't have sound, so how to record sound? ..... then sound to notation? .... hum ... is there any really accurate software? .... hahahaha ... anyway, it's just the way they say it .. it's wrong ... but i know what they mean ... =)

its not wrong

"learn how to record sounds from midi controller, and convert sounds to musical notation"

**for those who doesn't understand, midi controller don't have sound, so how to record sound? ..... then sound to notation? .... hum ... is there any really accurate software? .... hahahaha ... anyway, it's just the way they say it .. it's wrong ... but i know what they mean ... =)

i think i understand what u mean by 'learn how to record sounds from midi controller' in more lay terms this sentence means 'learn how to record sounds (to a computer) using a midi controller' which means using a computer. u can't take the sentence word for word just because there is no computer mentioned. like the words 'from midi controller'

when the midi controller is mentioned, it obviously means using computers to do the job.

there are many softwares that transfer midi to notation accurately, if you midi data is correct, that shouldn't be a problem.

so are you still saying the textbook from MOE is wrong
