Difference between 6-knobs and 3-3knobs?

its the lil metal thingy u drill into ur headsock, and the string passes under it before going into the machine head...

string tension is solely dependent on scale length, thats 1 of the reasons y tension is givien behind certain packs of strings and it says "measured in 25 1/2 " scale"

in addition to length, the break-angle from nut to machine heads also play a part in tuning. the 3-a-side type tend to exert more stress & doesn't stay in tune quite as well as the others.
