Desktop Speakers For Guitar

Hey all,

Just need to seek some advise on desktop speakers. I'm currently running my guitar setup through a line6 pod x3l and UX1. I realised that the quality of the guitars projected from desktop speakers are not too clear. If not too carefull, The sound actually distorts if the main levels are tunred up too high. I've tried using headphones and the sound is really nice compared to desktop speakers. Anyone knows any good desktop speakers out there in the market that is loud and produces good quality audio for guitar playing besides having a studio monitor?

Do advise & thanks in advance :)

CHEERS!

What speakers are you currently using now and how are you connecting the effects unit to them? Are you going through the sound card?

Thx for the info. Those are studio monitors is it not? Looks good. Any idea how much hung brothers are selling them?

I'm using some 60watt mulitmedia desktop speakers. Works great with mp3's and all but not too good on guitars though. Cant get much loudness without maxing it out and then crackles appear.

Yes, i'm running my POD X3 Live through my Toneport UX1 USB'ed into my soundcard and running with gearbox 3.5

I got it at a good bargain but I think retails for 200plus. As I said you got to check that out with Hung bros, Esden trading which is also located at simlim also carries behringer stuff so you might want to check there too. Also Behringer has a local distributor, Pro-Music Audio tel:65 6275 1831/65 6275 1832 email: promusic@singnet.com.sg

A 60 watt speaker will definately be loud enough man. There must be something wrong with your soundcard. I'm a little curious on how you USB your signal into a soundcard.. Sounds a lil weird. What sound card are you using?

"I'm using line 6 UX1 hardware and Gearbox software from line 6. It runs via USB."

Oh okay, this makes more sense. So you're connecting the UX1 directly into the computer via USB right? Not through a separate sound card as stated above

How are your speakers connected? To the UX1 or from a sound jack on your computer?

Nope, no seperate sound card. Juz the regular i'm using with my lappie.
The speakers are connected to the UX1 directly.
I'm thinking that maybe the speakers be it a 60watt just cant handle the load.
I think getting studio monitors would be the better option to handle the abuse but it's definately going to burn a hole in my pockets. hehe

:)

let some pictures do the talking:

Alright! A picture speaks a thousand words... And someone complained a 60 watter can't get loud enough... I'm really puzzled because watts is definately not a problem here...

yup, tried getting it directly through the X3L through speakers as well. did it through headphones as well. Somehow, the headphones were better in clarity. Speakers still don't do too well compared to the headphones. Well, thx for the input on this.guys. I think i'll be sourcing for a studio monitor to do the job.

CHEERS! :D
