Hey guys, i think i've just been cheated. Erm, yea, on the Korg toneworks ax1000g. This guy sold it to me and i was unable to test it on the spot cos there was no way to power up the unit unless there was an ac socket. The Aux in channel is spoilt, coupled with an annoyingly high level of feedback on the distortions/overdrive etc channels. The AC adapter was lost and he replaced it with a generic one. And because of that, the "plug" doesn't go into the machine well, a slight nudge will shut the whole unit off and resart it. To put it simply, the unit wasn't in "perfect working order" as he claimed. And it isn't a small problem i can "live with". I can't use the unit unless it's fixed. And boy, its a lot of money! Especially for a student like me. He Lied! Goodness, i don't like this at all. I checked it out in an electric guit and found out these problems. contacted the guy and he doesn't respond or reply my messages. I'm really saddened by this episode and i don't know what to do. Should i go get it fixed or do i take any other form of action? Like complain to some "consumer body"? i just want to get the matter resolved. Should i just get it fixed and forgive and forget about him?
Can you guys pls advice me on how to prevent such further incidents from happening?
Thanks all!

I'm afraid that isn't any form of recourse for this sort of deal. Only a gentlemen (or in this case, a liar's) word of honour.

What I would do if I were you would be to get the thing fixed. The Aux In connection could be just loose, or some capacitor inside is spoilt and may not necessary be a major repair. Getting a better A/C adapter would also be the first thing that I would do. Get a good quality one and with multiple input sizes so that you can find one that fits. The thing is to narrow the fault down, so that you can find out the source of the problem more precisely.

You can bring your Korg Toneworks to places like Guitar Workshop or Guitar Connection to take a look at it, and see if they can repair it for you. If the repair cost is under $100, then it would still be worthwhile to do it.

BTW, if you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for the Toneworks?

God bless,

Bro bring it to guitar connection and see if they can help you to solve. Alternatively, try and get the original AC if possible.

be carefull next time and use wisdom b4 buying it.

Location of Guitar Connection

Hi,

Guitar Connection is located in basment of Excelsior Shopping Centre. Just across from Peninsula Shopping Centre. There's a linkway between Peninsula and Excelsior.

Single coils are pickups with only one coil.

Humbuckers use two coils, wound with copper wire in oppostite direction or connected in reverse polarity, and placed side by side to cancel out the hum or noise from each individual coil. Buck the hum means to stop the hum, hence the term humbucker.

Humbuckers usually have a hotter output because of the larger magnetic field created by the two coils. They also have a warmer and fatter tone compared with the thin, twangy tone from single coils.

Hot rails pickups use two single pieces of thin magnet instead of individual magnetic pole pieces. They are laid parallel and look like a railway track (without the cross bars of course)

For a more detail explanation of what the diferences are between different pickups, google it or visit one of the many guitar sites such as guitarnoise or cyberfret. There are plenty of guitar-related resources out there in cyberland.

Thanks for the infor. Was just comparing prices with the Suzuki Les Paul from different retailers. Seems to be about the same price.

can the suzuki les paul be compared wtih an epiphone les paul?

Because i own suzuki harmonicas....so suzuki guitars sound weird.

Suziki Les Pauls

Hello,

Adrian from Guitar Workshop here again.
Just posting what I said earlier about Suzuki guitars.

Suzuki Guitars are actually made in Korea from the same factory as Epiphone. Therefore, it is essentially an Epiphone. Only difference is the pickups.

That's all I'm gonna say about Suzuki Guitars cus' we carry them and any more comment I guess would be unfair.

Adrian

Hi adrian, do you guys do custom pickguards for acoustic guitars? If yes, how much do you all charge?
Thanks!

I think the company that makes suzuki harmonicas is a different company from the factory that makes suzuki guitars. The guitar factory is an OEM factory that also makes guitars for other brands, including Epiphone.

Like Adrian mentioned before in this thread, it's the same guitar factory that makes suzuki and epiphone les pauls. Only difference are the pickups installed.

Quality-wise, in terms of build, both are very close.

Custom Pickguards for Guitars

Yes we do custom pickguards.
Just bring it down and we'll take a look at it and give you a quotation. No obligations.

We're honest. If we can't do it. We'll say we'll can't do it on the spot.

Adrian

for Nigle its also in the amp

You Can Bye 100 Pedals all the latest midi gear......but unless its pluged into the right guitar and amp you wont get the sound your looking for.

Nigle swiches between a mesa and boogie valve half stack and a Beautiful Vox AC-30 and that would be where he gets those lovly warm tones from and to even sweeten the deal he has a couple of prs's and a les paul. As for his pedals im not shure...but a fellow hills guitarest (micheal guy Chisslett) uses similar if not the same pedals...such as.....ibanez TS9 tube screamer, boss Digital delay, Jim donlop Cry baby (must have for church music) jim donlop tremilo unit and much more....thats gunna set you back a fair bit so i sugest you bye Somthing from the Vox Tonelab seires..they have an aray of many amps, cabinates and effects built in avalible in an amp form...2x12 combo(clasic vox look) and in pedal form. and the sweet thing is the pedal has a tube in to emulate thosr beutiful vaulve amps(its like a rock and roll version of the line 6 pod xt pro) any whooo i'll let you make your mind up but if you want good tone go with a VOX.

hi adrian..
i just wanted to enquire whether u guys custom paint guitars..
im holding an ibanez JS series and would like to know ur charges..
thank u very much
: )

picture of nigel's setup.

i have a picture of nigel's setup. if u want, i can email it to u (not sure if i can post the picture so that more pple can see it). I spoke to him about his set up b4, he basically has an Expandora, Boss Dm-2, Voodoo lab's Sparkle drive and Analog Chorus, TS-9 Tube screamer, and Dyna comm's Mxr.... he sent them to get racked up in america and puts his signal out to a Vintage Vox and Mesa Boogie (not sure of the model)..... He used the PRS (forgot the model) and Fender strat.... but that was in 2004... he should have changed his set up by nw.... by the way, ANYONE KNOWS OF ANY DEALS FOR THE ERNIE BALL VOLUME PEDAL 6616 or 6180 or any reccomendations of other volume pedals as i am looking for 1. Cheers!
