Davis MAY bring in VHT amps! READ (for VHT lovers)

yea good point mentioned, though the last part was a little unnecessary, I doubt that's VHT's reputation. More like an image that the brand portrays.

my interest in VHT is simply because it is different, from the marshall/peavey/mesa sounds.

Malky also said that they will only bring them in upon order, looks like it's gonna be a long time before any major sales are made, much the Ibanez everyone is waiting for(but not buying).

off topic a bit...but the country code for Singapore..should be +65...hehe..

and the VHTs...good...nice cleans and definitely a keeper...one of my good buddies has one...not sure which one though...

Hey all, i'm from jamtank malaysia. Was recently made aware of this site and came over to say hi, since i bought most of my gear from singapore. :D

OMFG, i can't believe Davis is bringing in VHT! And at reasonable prices too! I paid AUD3.5k for my 50CL last year...well, at least i know i can get the cabs for much cheaper in singapore, so when i come back for good i'll just bring my head and order the cabs from Davis.

I love my VHT, its a really well made amp and the gain voicing is very unique. A lot of people say its dry, but if you're used to the type of distortion like that from a 5150 or a Recto, the VHT isn't for you. The VHT's gain also isn't as saturated as say a Framus Cobra or ENGL, but its perfect for metal. If it makes any sense, the gain is somewhat 'clean', all your notes will be audible and if you make any mistakes it will be blatantly obvious.

Admittedly i wasn't too blown away with how it sounded when i first got it but paired with an Xotic BB Preamp it now kicks major ass. It takes some getting used to and i find myself playing better since i got the amp.

if you have an inclination for certain amp tones, it doesn't translate into others being duds- they are just less prefered.

Well, i wasn't dissing the other amps...in fact i (and probably most other guitarists) am accustomed to that saturated tone, and i actually think the Engls and Framus' are pretty damned good amps. Just wanted to set the record straight since everyone will most likely have their own opinions.

When you get into this price range you probably expect to be blown away, but in the end it all boils down to personal taste. Some people like the VHT sound, some dont.

It's all cool bro! I don't like the dual recto too, it can be tweaked for clarity, but I just don't like the characteristic of that amp, it kinda lacks in warmth. Glad you dropped by!

quote harbinger: but if you're used to crappy muddy distortion like that from a 5150 or a Recto

nah- he's not dissing other amps, but being dismissive rather. it might invite others to bash the VHT; which is what we don't want to see/ read here in SOFT.

Fair enough sub, i changed the post to be less....dismissive? Positive criticism is cool though, right? I didn't come onboard to be another 'omfg, teh vht pwns all other amps suxxors' fanboy. Just thought i'd be able to learn something as well as provide some knowledge to those who would like to know what a VHT is like from someone who actually owns one. :)

which is why i have utmost respect for you- as oppossed to being offended, you took time to doctor your entry :partyman: unlike some people who gets on the offensive once others state an opposing view *sigh*

we look forward to know VHT through you. please post a pic of your VHT + your gear over at the photo Gallery thread... then real GAS will kick in

Cheers...we're all adults here, no need to be immature about something small aye? (we're all adults...right?)

Sure, i'll post up a picture of my gear here in Sydney. I have some other stuff back home in Msia but i don't have any pics of those, unfortunately.

GAS on ppl!

Btw...is there a Framus distributor in Singapore? My next victim is supposed to be a Framus Cobra....eheheh

Yes, they are high gain amps with 3 or 4 selectable gain stages. That being said, they are quite versatile, especially the Deliverance and CLX models. When you say low to medium gain, what sort of amps are you referring too? Something like Orange?
