Customizing to floyd rose

isit possible to change a guitar with normal bridge or like the ibanez rg170's bridge to a floyd rose? if yes hw much would it cost? hw the result?

how worth it would depend on a lot of things dude, how much you value the guitar, how often you use the floyd rose, the value of the guitar itself, whether you're really 10000% sure you want to do that to the guitar. getting it routed will cost you, getting a good floyd rose will also cost you. for me it was worth it though.

and then theres no guarantee that the tone will remain the same as before the mod

and the resale value will definately drop ......
esp if you are talking about vintage stuff....

I'm also planning to do this on my project guitar, but the routing cost is making me think twice. Please let me know if you find a shop who'll do it cheap.

Cheap, just take a chisel and do it yourself.

Or bring it to some woods shop / carpentry shop.



Actually, i can't understand the "as cheap as possible" mentality for an instrument that is suppose to project your soul/emotions. Unless its for sheer fun & experimentation I suppose.

yea it is. but then the bridge may be quite high, and you won't be able to pull up much.
