Customizing a low end guitar?

Hi, I'm just wondering if it would be worth it to customize a low end guitar? Like perhaps change the pickups, pickguard etc. Would it be really worth it? I was thinking usually people wait till they get a good guitar before they start changing stuff around. So, would you?

I like my RG350DX, so I would mod it to get the desired sounds...

But it really depends too, like I doubt my RG would ever sound like a Les Paul, or a Telecaster, so yeah, it really depends on what you're trying to achieve...

Yes It would be worth it

BUT FIRST, Know What Wood is being used for your Low end guitar.
the cheap telecaster i bought is Alder, so yes its what i would consider upgrading.

Thanks for the replies thus far, it seems my guitar body is made of rosewood. So would it be a good idea to mod it abit? It sounds alright but I'd like for it to sound awesome  If I can get a great sound of it, I might stick with it for a long time so I guess that's something to consider as well.

Resist the temptation of Upgrading -
Save up - to get a good guitar -----

I get what you're saying, but this is already my 2nd guitar. My first guitar was actually a gift and was a cheap fender copy from China. The sound wasn't that great but it was better than nothing I guess. My 2nd guitar is alot better sounding even though its a squier affinity series. I might not get a new guitar for another year or so.

Don't upgrade for the sake of upgrading... Tell us what sort of sound you are trying to achieve, sometimes an amp upgrade might be more in line rather than a upgrade of the guitar.

Even if you do choose to upgrade your guitar, its a long and arduous journey, like trying to find the correct pedals, to get the desired sound...

do consider 2nd hand guitar... some of it is in mint condition and at a great price...

if you really like your guitar, feel wise then it is a good idea to upgrade it to get more from it.

Ive modded my craftsman tele copy and prefer it over my more expensive esp eclipse

i think it's your fingerboard that's rosewood not the body. if it's an affinity it should have an alder body if i'm not wrong. and i think you should save the money and get a guitar with the specs that you want, instead of spending quite a bit of cash changing everything on yours.

Thanks for the replies, I'll probably wait till I get a better guitar but I probably wouldn't mod it. I still intend to use this as a project guitar of some sort in the future though. Oh and yeah it is made of alder, my mistake.
