hello guys.. i am new here and i know the topic isnt really related but jus to share with u guys..anyway, i play drum..


Recently my mum, wanted to make a new sets of curtains for the whole house and tis salesman came.
MUM was choosing fabrics to match the colors for the sofa's, wall..etc...
i was flipping thru some of the fabric collections until i stopped at 1 particular collections of fabrics.. i dunno wats the name of the fabrics but the salesman told me immediately tat its used for jamming studios n dance studios..to reduced the sound from traveling n so on, he knew tat i like tat kinda fabric cos he's a drummer himself.(he told me)

and so, since i play drum at home and always get complain for the amount of noise i made.. i choose the fabric to be curtain up in my whole room plus carpet..to lessen the Musical pollution..

1 wk after, when the curtains came.. i was astonished by the percentage of sound being reduced.. and i jus wanna thk the salesman for advising me abt the curtains n carpet which has helped me lower down the input, and now i can jam like nobody business but of cos, not 100% soundproof, i will rate like 50% noise canceling..haha..



for those who hv $$ prob.. dun worry, jus tell ur parent tat u wanna make new curtains cos u dun like the current curtains..i'm sure most parent will pay for these.. hahaha

quite true.. using curtains can reduced the sound/volume.. and the type of material/fabric is call Velvet.. haha, cos i am doing sales on curtains/blinds..
anyway, its possible to curtain up the whole room. just like some of the pte music schools,dance/music studios and personal home studio i've done before..
it stop the d wave from traveling unlike the normal concrete wall or other material.anyone wanna make one?

it depends on the kind of fabric used.. and of cos, it blocks the sunlight..

Thick curtains can do wonders when it comes to absorbing mid and high frequencies.

I'm curious though what materials are those made from?

TS: Just wondering, does the curtain goes all around the drum? Or you cut some space for like doors or windows?

1 way is to curtain up the whole room.. just like jamming studios which mainly use reinforced carpet or for some, normal wans..of cos not blocking the main door/entrance to the room..
but then again, its using the velvet material to absorb the frequencies .. curtains can block unwanted glare n acts as a decorative dress for the windows.. it can also do wonders like absorbing sound..

of cos there are some in the market. BUt it doesnt come cheap.

ikea got sell ma.. anyway, its more affordable making curtain to reduce the sound den spending 5k-6k to make soundproof wall or sort..
