Creative Prodikeys PC-MIDI

Anybody using the Creative Prodikeys PC-MIDI? I know that this is not exactly a 'pro' keyboard for music production, but can it be used as a MIDI keyboard controller for apps like Reason, Cubase and softsynths?

Prodikey

Yes the prodikey can be used in conjunction with software like cakewalk. used it once at MusicTEC before. but well if not for space constrains, consider others that is my advice cause its keys are small.

so how u find the creative prodikeys? good?

Ha,ha!!!
U're joking, right??!! :P

Ok lah, give chance....the Prodikeys is useful for "drumming out" ideas while you are on the PC and suddenly get struck with some inspiration to compose or something! You can quickly launch a sequencer s/w, switch over to the Prodikeys and play something as a "notepad". The newest model, "PC-MIDI" comes with Octave up and down function keys that allow you to transpose the keyboard 3 octaves, both ways. This is useful for getting kick and snare sounds in a GM setting, as you'd need to transpose 3 octaves down to get at the kick and snare(!).

Basically, it's a MIDI keyboard controller but the PC-MIDI doesn't come with pitch bend wheel anymore (unlike its other predecessors).
Touch-wise, it's still crappy. Probably that's the best a "mini-sized" keyboard can do in terms of touch.
But at $69/-, I don't think Creative wants to hear from you, ever again, after you've bought it!!

Anyway, I understand that they (Creative) have relegated it to the "Computer peripherals" classification....along with mouse, speakers, etc, etc :P

Thanx for the review. Think I'll up the budget and go for a 49 key midi controller like the M-Audio keystation or the Korg K-series.
